The design blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living, with a vast open plan living area with twenty foot ceilings, large windows and doors and a roof terrace with an expansive lounging area and hot tub.

The 3,000 square foot villas each have two king bedrooms with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets, en suite bathrooms with walk-in rain showers and Egyptian cotton bathrobes.

On site Rojo Lounge is a hip and exclusive loungey spot that has won Fodor’s Choice in Belize 5 years running. Chef and Owner Jeff Spiegel’s ‘tropical lounge cuisine’ is possibly the most innovative and creative on the island, perhaps even all of Belize.

In the words of Jeff, “the items on the menu are the result of years of fastidiously experimenting, tasting and refining: Braising local pork belly in Belikin stout with allspice, chili and juniper? Delicious! Szechuan pepper on spiny lobster with stir fried chaya? Fantastic! Conch made into sausage for topping pizza that is NOT as chewy as a tire? Who woulda thought! We run daily specials when they’re warranted and when we’re inspired. Special dietary needs/restrictions/requests? We’ll do our best”.

There’s always fun and friends to be found at Rojo’s beach bar where cocktails are crafted with the same care and attention given to the food. Juices and mixes are fresh, the bloody mary’s spicy and hearty, the beer is served ice cold and the bartender’s smiles and banter will keep you entertained for hours.

Jeff and Viv have a passion for animals, and pets are an important part of daily life at Azul. The property is home to 6 well-behaved and loving dogs and 5 cats, all rescues. Each has a unique story… skinny Lucy was rescued from a landfill near Guatemala, Isla was adopted mere hours before she would have been euthanised, Suzie was an redundant bomb sniffing dog. Chances are, when you’re sipping drinks at the beach bar, there will be a dog or two lounging contently at your feet. Quite simply, the resort would not be the same without them.

• Azul Resort requires a 3-night minimum stay. Peak periods require a 7-night minimum stay. However, exceptions are made based on availability.

A dream beach getaway – “Azul provided everything we would dream of for an exclusive beach getaway. It is truly 5 star luxury in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with food to die for and a fantastic staff that look after you as if you are part of their family. We loved the fact that there are only 2 spacious houses to stay in on a huge private beach with a lovely tranquil pool to share. The private roof terrace was stunning – how amazing to be able to watch the sun set from the hot tub! The house was beautifully decorated, cool and modern and every detail had been thought through carefully – down to the well stocked fridge and courtesy mobile phone.  Many thanks to Viv and Fin who run the place like clockwork but still find time to be warm, welcoming and funny, to Jeff for so many delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners and to all the rest of the delightful staff.”

Incredible experience – “I’m still on cloud nine from my trip to Azul! First off, upon arrival.. I was completely in awe at how gorgeous the resort and beach were. It feels very private and there are so many areas that you’re free to lounge and relax! From the docks that extend out on the ocean in front of the resort, to the hammocks in front of the villas or bar, all the lounge chairs lining the beach, the infinity pool and rooftop Jacuzzi! It was amazing!! The villas were spacious and had everything you would ever need! It was like your very own beach front condo! Now the staff .. like family!!! Completely welcoming and there to help out with any of your needs! Fin is hilarious and Viv and Jeff are so sweet! They definitely make you feel at home (and you’ll leave wishing this was your home!). And they’re dog lovers too! Which adds to the home-like feel of this resort! The dogs are super friendly .. always appreciative of a little belly rub =). Now last but certainly not least, the drinks and food at Rojo Lounge! Tasty concoctions of island-like cocktails and gourmet dishes with the freshest ingredients! Chef Jeff is truly talented, which makes this restaurant the best on the island! You’re guaranteed to enjoy every meal on the menu! I will definitely come back for another perfect vacation!”

Breath taking and amazing – “Wow. Simply, Wow. The private Villa is Super nice, top of the line everything, the nicest infinity pool. I’ve never been to Greece, but something about the white villa and the blue tops reminded me of pictures I’ve seen of Coastal Greece. Azul is right on the water, hammocks under canopies, jacuzzi on the rooftop. Geez.. (can you tell i’m still blown away by it a few weeks later, i miss Belize). And one of the best parts is the extremely friendly staff and the Amazing food from Rojo Lounge. I’m from New York, so definitely have a high standard for food and Rojo lounge exceeded all expectations. Amazing Hummus, the dinner special Udon was incredible. not a single dish was bad. we were only in San Pedro for 1 night and 2 days but i must return, as Azul embodies everything i could ever hope for in a vacation.”
