The Resort & Rooms, Sundiver

Turquoise water, white sand, friendly locals and the spirit of relaxation define the idyllic setting at Sundiver, located 5 miles north of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye.  The 10 room hotel comprises 3 classic wooden Caribbean structures, two housing the accommodation and the third housing the resort kitchens, deli and grill, large dining or conference area, office, library and dive shop.

All rooms enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and barrier reef – the 8 beach rooms are on the ground floor, steps from the sand and the 2 master suites are on the first floor, with verandas and small living areas.

The grounds and resort amenities are perfectly geared to accommodate myriad retreats and events – Barefoot wedding? Spring break party? Family reunion? Educational program? Yoga retreat? Nowhere else on the island can you find this level of intimacy and versatility for your own exclusive use.

Sundiver is located in the Mata Grande neighbourhood of Ambergris Caye, nestled amongst boutique hotels, private villas, and palm trees, 5 miles north of San Pedro town. Once in San Pedro town, you can catch the Coastal Express and request a drop off on the Sundiver dock, or we can arrange for a private water taxi to take you directly to the resort.  If you prefer to take to the roads, you can rent the local mode of transport, a golf cart, and park up at the resort, just near the local Mata Grande Grocery.

The accommodation at Sundiver features light, casual island style interiors, Mexican tiled private bathrooms, screened windows to let the fresh coastal breezes in, and air conditioning for warmer summer nights. Housekeeping and groundskeeping are provided daily.

For group bookings you will have exclusive use of the resort, which includes:

– Freshwater swimming pool

– Kayak and snorkel gear available for rent from the dive shop

– Beach bar open from noon to 9pm, where later opening can be arranged in advance

Aurora’s Deli and Grill at Sundiver offers delicious local foods including hot breakfasts, lunches, Belizean snacks, BBQ, fresh seafood and more.  Aurora and her husband Evan also provide catering services for Belizean banquets, providing staging, staffing and flowers.

The Palapa Beach Bar is located right on the sand with hammocks and clam chairs, serving ice cold beers and tropical cocktails to a fun island playlist.

A 5 minute walk north is the award winning Rojo Lounge at Azul Resort, a hip and loungey spot with a killer cocktail list. Chef Jeff’s ‘tropical lounge cuisine’ has won Fodor’s Choice 5 years running. Mambo at Mata Chica Resort, next door to Rojo, has an eclectic international menu – don’t miss the ‘deep blue’, an assortment of fresh catch with divine dipping sauces.

Behind Sundiver is the Mata Grande Grocery store for all your essentials, selling anything from toothpaste to fine wine. It also attracts a local gathering for late afternoon beers and a swing in the hammock.

There are 2 programs for exclusive use of Sundiver, as follows:

7 night stay 

US $5,000 for 7 nights exclusive use of the resort, including 8 beach rooms, 2 master suites, daily housekeeping, daily groundskeeping and utilities and government taxes (excludes gratuities). On-site services and amenities include large conference / dining room, beach bar, grill and deli, dive shop, event catering, pool, beach volleyball and dock.

5 night bed and breakfast

US $95 per night plus 9% hotel tax for all beach rooms, US $125 per night plus 9% hotel tax for all master suites, minimum of 8 rooms to be booked. Includes exclusive use of the resort, daily breakfast (including a daily hot option), daily housekeeping, daily groundskeeping and utilities. On-site services available include large conference / dining room (use is included in the rate), beach bar, grill and deli, dive shop, event catering, pool, beach volleyball and dock.
