The Resort and Rooms, Hopkins Bay
Southern Belize
Booking enquiryThe Garifuna culture makes up just 4% of the Belizean population, however the majority live in the Toledo and Stan Creek areas, along the coastline of mainland Belize. A mix of African and Arawak Indian cultures, the Garifuna language is a mixture of Arawak, African, French, English and Spanish and was declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2009, along with Garifuna music and dance. Many of the residents of Hopkins Village are happy to share the history of the Garifuna and their local customs, making Hopkins a rich cultural base for a Belize vacation.
Hopkins Bay is located on the outskirts of the village and comprises a collection of stand-alone beach houses in a horseshoe formation, meaning every villa has unobstructed vistas of the ocean. The resort has the amenities and services of a luxury hotel in an idyllic, casual Belize beachfront setting. Perched half way between Dangriga and Placencia, Hopkins has a relaxed fishing village vibe, with a sizeable Garifuna community and a dotting of small, upscale resorts and restaurants.

We cant wait to come back again! We spent 2 nights at Hopkins Bay Resort and they were 2 great ones! We happened to be there over the 4th of July, they had a great BBQ setup. The food was the best we had in Belize! Hopkins Bay Resort also has an amazing happy hour of Fridays, it is a must! We went kayaking and fishing one day, and the guides were great as well. For lunch we tried the $6usd pork tacos, which were very meaty and filling highly recommend. All employees were oh so helpful and seemed to really love their jobs at Hopkins Bay Belize. We cant wait to come back again!

A+++++++++++ experience When we got to our room my jaw dropped! The condo, or whatever it is considered, was HUGE and fit for royalty. We stayed in the two-bedroom condo within a matter of feet from the ocean. Immediately we opened up the sliding glass doors and the entire front of the condo was open air. We stayed here for 3 days and I can’t say that I could’ve spent the final days of my trip living any more comfortably. The air was perfect. The drinks at the beach bar were delicious (try the freshly cut down coconut drinks). We went kayaking, snorkeling, and ate some amazing food. A+++++++++++ experience. Everyone in Hopkins was extremely friendly and inviting. I could go on and on about this place. I’ve recommended this place to friends and now they are planning a trip down there. I will make sure to stay here whenever I come back to Belize.
